I use Windows 11, my search bar was very slow at the beginning so I tried to speed it up, and it kind of worked but it still has a very noticeable delay. Thanks in advance.

  2. Search Bar/Cortana

    Hello,

Thank you for posting your concern here in Microsoft Community and welcome to the Windows 10 family.

From the description, I understand that you are still receiving the pop up notifications, despite having disabled the search functionality in windows 10.

Steps to disable the Search Bar

    • Right click on the task bar.
    • Select the "Search" option.
    • Select "Disable."
However, if the above steps don't work out, perform the below suggested steps and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Open a CMD window started as Administrator.

    Repair corruption: Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth.

Run this command next: Sfc /scannow

    Now run these two commands:

    PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Hope the above information was helpful.

    Thank You.

File explorer/search very very very slow

Green search bar takes 10+ minutes to complete its progress across the bar .. working on it ... ..... it says - really i think!!

Since 20H2 'update' the whole OS seems slow to respond and react, with all apps very slow - obviously suspect the file access an search as the culprit. Tried Microsoft - reinstall the whole OS ... great. Did this, not better. Have tried several options including

    1. stopping network connection

    2. stopping cloud access/services - OneDrive

    3. clearing search registries

    4. rebuilding search index

    5. disabling windows search in system config ...

    6. Clearing File Explorer History

    7. other 'tweeks' for suggestions

PS Have 100+Gb free on disks; 64G RAM; Xenon Quad processor - system is powerful

.... any other suggestions or anyone else having such issues without resolution?
