Windows 10: Windows Server 2012 R2 ESU Year 3 – April 8, 2025 Security Updates Not Installing

Dear Microsoft Community,We are currently facing an issue where the latest security updates for Windows Server 2012 R2, released on April 8, 2025, are not being installed on our machines.Our client has valid Extended Security Update ESU Year 3 licenses for Windows Server 2012 R2, and the necessary prerequisites have already been met. Despite this, the updates are not appearing or installing as expected.Could you please assist us in resolving this issue?Thank you.

Convert Windows Server 2012 R2 Evaluation to Windows Server 2012 R2

I have purchased the product key of Windows Server 2012 R2. Now the server is on Windows Server 2012 R2 Evaluation. I found a few links there they explained on how to convert from Windows Server 2012 R2 Evaluation to Windows Server 2012 R2 with valid product

Is this a correct way to do? If I follow this step, will my data be erased?

I want to avoid formatting/fresh Windows install because there are some software in the server that we do not know how to backup. We just want to get it activated now, backup will be sorted out later.

 

will 2012 r2 servers be automatically covered until October 10 2023

When does support for Windows 2012 r2 official end? 10th October 2023? Does this mean our remaining Windows 2012 r2 servers will still receive security updates up until 10th October 2023 without us joining any programs such as EOS or ESU? Thank you.
