How to make Windows 10 Explorer to preview files w/o extension?

I found several links for making Windows Explorer to preview the content of files (in the Preview Pane) with a given filename extension, like ".log" or ".me". However, many open source projects contain text
files, like makefile, readme, contributors... without file name extension. I'd like to see their content in the Preview Pane.

I saw registry edits suggested, but they don't seem to work with Windows-10 (editing "HKLM\\SOFTWARE\\Classes\\."). Is there a trick to specify preview options in the registry for files which have no file name
extension?

Similar questions have been posted to SuperUser.com, StackOverflow and reddit, but they did not receive any or any relevant or working answer. Some users suggested renaming the files to have ".txt" extension,
but it interferes with version controls, may conflict with existing files, and takes longer than a preview would. Another option could be replacing Explorer e.g. with TotalCommander, which has a built-in preview function, showing the content of this, and many
more file types. That would not work in a corporate environment, with standardized Windows installations.

 

Win 11 File Explorer Preview Pane Inconsistent Behavior

Upgraded from Win10 Pro to Win11 Pro (ver 21H2 build 22000.438) recently.

• File Explorer Preview pane works fine for MS Office documents, PDF in all folders and subfolders. But not for the bmp, png files and inconsistent for JPG files.
  
• It works for some JPG files but not for other JPGs in the same subfolder. Curiously, some JPG-file's medium- and large-icons show the content properly but not in the Preview pane. For other files, default icon is shown but nothing in the Preview pane.
  

Has anyone else seen this? Any workarounds???

Ps: As noted by others, Win Explorer is slow. F11 trick usually makes it work. Hope MS fixes this soon. WOnder if these are related.

 

Win10 Explorer Preview Pane not working, preview handler Windows TXT Previewer might be broken

Hey guys,

My File Explorer will not the preview any .txt files in the preview pane. I also set up to open .md, .reg and .js files with notepad - they do open, but the preview is also broken, which leads me to believe the Windows TXT Previewer {1531d583-8375-4d3f-b5fb-d23bbd169f22}
might be broken in the system.

Most tutorials online seem to be about a different issue, as people talk about a "no preview available" error. Mine is different, as nothing shows up, it's just a blank space, with nothing written. Is there something I'm missing?

Here's a couple of things I tried:

- Restarted Explorer dozens of times.
- Cleaned the disk, registry, junk files, temp files, thumbnails, etc.
- Booting in safe mode (but it still doesn't work).
- Rebooting multiple times.
-"Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced", ShowPreviewHandlers is already set to 1.
-"Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PreviewHandlers" has Windows TXT Previewer listed correctly.

Weirdly enough, other types of files are loading just fine in the preview pane (.jpg, .mp4. .mov, etc...)
I've also tried using Windows TXT Previewer, but as you can see, it's already set up correctly.

My OS: Windows 10 Version 20H2 OS Build 19024.450
