Hi,Following recent Windows Updates KB5056579, KB5055627, KB5058411, we have encountered a critical issue severely impacting our application built in VB.NET 2004.The problem arises when message boxes are used for notifications, warnings, etc. On tablet devices, these message boxes cannot be closed, leaving users with no option but to forcefully shut down and reboot their devices each time the issue occurs. This behavior is not observed on standard PCs. View attached image for reference. This issue is causing major disruption to daily operations and is significantly degrading user productivity

User.000 issue after updating to 1909

I'm one of the many people suffering from issues with user profiles after applying Update 1909 to Windows 10. I've read all the threads I can find on the topic here and have followed the suggestions, all to no avail. Any other thoughts are appreciated.

After applying Update 1909, the ProfileImagePath was changed to c:\users\User.000
One file that was always in use and couldn't be removed was left in c:\users\User (can't recall or find the exact file now), so I could never rename or remove the c:\user\User directory.

I followed the multiple suggestions from Brink and others:
    • Rebooted at least 6 times
    • Enabled hidden Administrator
    • Booted into Safe Mode
    • Changed ProfileImagePath
    • Tried to rename c:\users\User but couldn't because a file was still in use
    • Copied all data from c:\users\User.000 into c:\users\User
    • Rebooted and had temporary profile
    • Followed steps in Brink tutorial to change ImageProfilePath; rebooted with no change
    • Restored using Restore Point from before Update 1909 - returned to single profile state (User.000)
    • Removed each update that was installed individually and rebooted after each update removal - profile state never changed
    • After all updates were removed, repeated the steps above with hidden Administrator, changing profile, etc. - same issue with file in use in c:\users\User
    • Followed all steps above with hidden Administrator but without copying files from User.000 to User - same results

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Synology Urges Users to Update as Ransomware Affects Older DSM Versions

Synology has been investigating and working with users affected by a recent ransomware called "SynoLocker." Synology has confirmed the ransomware affects Synology NAS servers running older versions of DiskStation Manager, by exploiting a vulnerability that was fixed in December, 2013, at which time Synology released patched software and notified users to update via various channels.

Affected users may encounter the following symptoms:
    • When attempting to log in to DSM, a screen appears informing users that data has been encrypted and a fee is required to unlock data.
    • Abnormally high CPU usage or a running process called "synosync" (which can be checked at Main Menu > Resource Monitor).
    • DSM 4.3-3810 or earlier; DSM 4.2-3236 or earlier; DSM 4.1-2851 or earlier; DSM 4.0-2257 or earlier is installed, but the system says no updates are available at Control Panel > DSM Update.
For users who have encountered the above symptoms, please shutdown the system immediately to avoid more files from being encrypted and contact our technical support here. However, Synology is unable to decrypt files that have already been encrypted.
For other users who have not encountered the above symptoms, Synology strongly recommend downloading and installing DSM 5.0, or any version below:
    • DSM 4.3-3827 or later
    • DSM 4.2-3243 or later
    • DSM 4.0-2259 or later
    • DSM 3.x or earlier is not affected
Users can manually download the latest version from our Download Center and install it at Control Panel > DSM Update > Manual DSM Update.
Synology sincerely apologizes for any problems or inconvenience this issue has caused our users. As cybercrime proliferates and increasingly sophisticated malware evolves, Synology continues to devote resources to mitigate threats and is dedicated to providing users with reliable solutions.
