Following a recent Windows 11 update, the Thunderbolt port on my Surface Laptop 7 Qualcomm Arm 64 no longer provides video to my external Dell Thunderbolt monitor. This set up had been working for 6 months prior to the update. I have reset all the software on the PC with Microsoft Support, uninstalled and reinstalled windows updates, spent several hours on the phone with Dell, but it still does not work. I have connected the Thunderbolt cable and monitor to an older intel Surface Laptop and there is no issue as the video works fine. My conclusion is that the drivers are not up to date. Qua

Is the current Epson Scanner FF-680W software compatible with the new Microsoft surface 7 laptop? ARM technology issue?

Is the current Epson Scanner FF-680W software compatible with the new Microsoft surface 7 laptop? The software for the scanner runs on all our other windows 11 computers. Is it the compatibility issue mentioned in the GAURDIAN re the ARM, rather than intel based processor? Is there a work around? or solution?

If Microsoft’s Surface line had quite a big impact on the rise of 2-in-1 PCs, it’s quite interesting to see that the software giant let its hardware partners test the waters with Windows 10 on ARM PCs. We have yet to see a Surface PC with an ARM processor, but just like Apple is rumored to be working on ARM MacBook, it would be very surprising if Microsoft wasn’t interested in an ARM Surface.

As a matter of fact, the 10-inch Surface Go that Microsoft released last year wasn’t exactly the mobile tablet that Microsoft wanted to create. According to Paul Thurrott, Microsoft initially wanted to use a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor in the Surface Go, but Intel reportedly pushed Microsoft to choose the company’s Pentium Gold processor instead. This was probably a good call, a the performance of emulated Win32 apps on Windows 10 on ARM still leaves a lot to be desired.
