Hello, I am not very tech savvy so I'm not sure if I'm explaining this correctly, but I keep losing audio no matter how many times I "troubleshoot" the issue. I go to SYSTEM → TROUBLESHOOT → OTHER TROUBLE-SHOOTERS, then clicked on the RUN button for Audio which was the first choice. This prompted a new window for the Windows Audio Troubleshooter. I answered YES for it to "run automated diagnostics to try solving your audio problem?"It found that "Apparently, your audio device is muted."I answered YES for it to "May I automatically unmute your device?"Which was followed up with "Your audio de

  2. Microphone usb audio codec goes to mute on its own

I have a Dell Inspiron 5748, 2GHz Intel Core i7-451U running Win 10 Home (x64) Ver 1607 (build 14393.693). I wish to obtain audio from an external source via USB to USB cable. I can go to Device Manager and see the USB Mic and un-mute it and increase slider and all is well with the world, it works. But, within 20-25 seconds, that mic input changes to "mute" and everything goes away. I can un-mute as many times as I want but it always (on it's own) goes back to the "mute" condition.
    Any suggestions? Dan

Volume goes to zero and mute.

    Hi William,

If the volume of your computer automatically mutes, it could be that the audio drivers are corrupted or damaged, or that there are software conflicts occurring within the system. As a first troubleshooting step, we suggest that you run the audio troubleshooter
and lets Windows find and automatically resolve problems with your audio. Here's how to run the audio troubleshooter:

    • Select the Start button, then type troubleshoot, and select
Troubleshoot from the list of results. From there, select
      Playing Audio
      > Run the troubleshooter.

If the troubleshooter does not help resolve the problem with your volume settings, we suggest that you check Device Manager and update your sound card drivers. Updating would replace any corrupted or damaged components of the audio driver. Here's how to
update your audio drivers through Device Manager:

    • Open the Start button, then type device manager, and select
Device Manager from the search results.
    • Under Sound, video and game controllers, right-click your sound card driver, then select
      Update Driver.
    • Select Search automatically search for updated driver software.
If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you may look for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions on how to install their driver.

If the above steps doesn't resolve the problem, feel free to post back to us.
