Windows 10: Some of USB ports not recognized as bootable.

Hello, I have a Dell Inspiron 580, BIOS dated to 2010. It has its original USB2 ports and additional USB3 ports on a card I installed. All USB ports work fine in Windows. If I plug in a bootable USB drive into an original USB2, the boot menu gives me an option to boot from USB. However, if I do the same but using a USB3 port, the boot menu shows no USB option. So somehow the USB3 ports on the additional card are not recognized as bootable. The actual bootable USB drive is fine because it works with no issues from USB2. Would appreciate any help in resolving this issue.

Multi-bootable USB

Hey guys from TPU, couldn't find any specific thread pertaining to the question asked on title. As mentioned, I'm trying to create a bootable USB, but with many specifics boots available.

I've been trying to create one with multiple boot device including one that enables me to run Windows 10 directly on the USB Thumb Drive but to no avail.

The list of bootable images i'm trying to create are

1. Windows 10 (A full OS running from thumb drive)
2. Windows 10 ISO (Bootable disk image for fresh install)
3. MemTest86+

Have tried YUMI or UUI from the website USB PenDrive Linux but as this is my first time, i don't know how am i screwing up or am doing it right.. Anyone got a rough idea on a step by step guide? Thanks!

• Have you tried connecting your device tracker to a different USB port on your computer?
• If so, was it detected?
• Did you receive any error messages?

USB ports

Hi Frank,

Inserting and removing a USB device repeatedly may cause the USB port to stop responding. When the port is in this state, it no longer recognizes any USB device, and the USB device will not work.

Here are few things that you can do to resolve the issue:

Use Device Manager to scan for hardware changes. After your computer scans for hardware changes, it might recognize the USB device that is connected to the USB port so that you can use the device.

To scan for hardware changes, follow these steps:

• Click Start, and then click Run.
  
  Note If you are running Windows Vista, click Start, and then use the Start Search box.
• Type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. Device Manager opens.
• In Device Manager, click your computer so that it is highlighted.
• Click Action, and then click Scan for hardware changes.
• Check the USB device to see whether it is working.

Turn off Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

• In the Device Manager dialog box, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click USB Root Hub, and then click Properties.
• In the USB Root Hub Properties dialog box, click the Power Management tab. Uncheck the
  Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power
  box.
