  1. Windows 11 Lock screen not displaying custom selected image

I'm using Windows 11 Home and having a persistent issue with the lock screen background. Whenever I select a custom image under the Lock Screen settings with the background type set to "Picture", the system ignores it and shows only the default Windows 11 blue swirl background on startup and when waking from sleep. Strangely, if I press Win + L to manually lock the computer, the correct image displays just fine. I've tried a wide range of troubleshooting methods: I ran sfc /scannow and DISM to scan for system corruption, disabled Fast Startup, ensured that the "Show lock screen background pi

Cannot locate custom Lock Screen images in W10 Pro 1809

    Success.

Here is the solution, but it is imperative to proceed carefully.
There are also a couple of final steps that are missing and I had to think about it.

Retrieve Custom Windows 10 Lock Screen Image - Super User

This must be done as Administrator (True Administrator account) -

You must add "Administrator" to the additional fields not listed to get through the permission issues caused by NTFS.

Edit - I'm posting the missing steps:

There's quite a bit going on here, but the important item to understand is that for each "picture" folder, you need to add yourself as Administrator.
Just click on "Select a principal" and enter Administrator as the Object Name for each folder you wish to gain access to.

Hope this helps. Thanks for your help, Shawn.

Microsoft should not have any user going through this just to find a picture. It is insanity.

  3. Ads displayed in Lock Screen

    Hi Subhadeep,

Windows Spotlight is an option for the lock screen background that displays different background images and occasionally offers suggestions on the lock screen.
To turn off Windows Spotlight, go to Settings, clickPersonalization,
select Lock screen, under Background select a different lock screen background.

To avoid messages on your lock screen, you can consider the following:

    • Make sure that the "Get fun facts, etc" on your Settings is turned off.
    • Disable “suggestions” that appear as notifications. To do so, follow these steps go to
Settings, then select System, then click
      Notifications & actions
and turnoff “Show me the Windows welcome experience after updates and occasionally when I sign in to highlight what’s new and
      suggested”.
    • Disable “tips, tricks, and suggestions”. Head to Settings then select
System, then click Notifications & Actions and disable the “Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows” option.

Don't hesitate to reply on this thread if further assistance is needed.

Lock Screen Image Does Not Display as Login Screen

Hi Shawn, Sorry I still don't get it. I have three accounts on my machine. Two have custom pictures for the "lock screen" and one has a selected picture for the "lock screen". All three of them have "Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in
screen" set to the ON position.

When I sign out from one account (or power up) I can select from the three accounts by choosing one from the list displayed in the lower left hand corner. When I chose the account with the built in picture selected, the screen dissolves to the selected lock
screen picture which becomes the background of the sign-in screen for that account. When I select one of the two accounts with a custom picture selected as the lock-screen, that picture is displayed as the sign-in screen. When I select the OTHER account with
a custom picture selected as the lock-screen, rather than dissolving to the lock-screen picture it dissolves to one of the built in pictures.

Why does the one account behave differently from the others? Is there anything that will fix it?
