Hi team,During function development of waking up the device from modern standby, we found that there are vhf that can be used to create a virtual hid device and send virtual keyboard event. But we have query about the vhf:1\ we are not sure that the keyboard event sent by the virtual hid device of vhfvirtual hid framework can be able to wake up the device from modern standby or not? 2\ If can wake up the system from modern standby, are there any difference between virtual hid device and "PoSetSystemState" API solution.

    :)

  2. Windows 11 wakes from sleep on mouse or keyboard activity even though "Allow this device to wake the computer" is disabled for all HID / keyboard / mice devices

I have a USB keyboard and USB mouse plugged in to a single USB port on my laptop via a KVM switch. On sleeping the laptop, any keyboard or mouse activity wakes it.

I've been through every single entry in Device Manager for all Human Interface Devices, Keyboards (HID Keyboard Device), and Mice and other pointing devices (HID-compliant mouse), and "Allow this device to wake the computer" is unchecked for every one.

I'll repeat for emphasis, there are no HID, Keyboard or Mouse devices with "Allow this device to wake the computer" enabled.

From an admin command prompt, powercfg claims that nothing can wake the computer, and it won't tell me what did wake it.

    powercfg -devicequery wake_armed

    NONE

    powercfg -waketimers

There are no active wake timers in the system.

    powercfg -lastwake

    Wake History Count - 1

    Wake History [0]

    Wake Source Count - 0

Event Viewer contains events saying that mouse input, or keyboard input, woke the system

What else can I do to prevent the keyboard and mouse from waking Windows from sleep?

How to stop mouse movement from waking the computer?

Thanks lgentry. I have a Microsoft wired keyboard and a Logitech wireless mouse. Under Device Manager>Keyboards it lists two "HID Keyboard Device"s and the Microsoft keyboard. Unchecking the "Allow this device to wake the computer" for the two HID keyboards fixed the problem as you suggested. Weird that one must prevent "keyboards" from waking the computer to in fact prevent the mouse from waking it.

    HID Keyboard device problem

    Short problem description:

    - New USB connected sound every 30-60 seconds

    - New USB connected notification with that

    - A new list entry of 'HID Keyboard device' in the device manager

    - Sometimes it randomly stops and then becomes incredibly annoying again

I have this on my work laptop so it is crazy annoying for a product that is as expensive as Windows is.

There is also a thread from a year ago that died out after a **** solution suggestion:

    Redirecting

Can Microsoft support really do nothing about this?
