My 4TB external hard disk is not working properly, it is not opening, and freezes my computer when I connect it to any laptopI tried to do these commands chkdsk /f /r /x , but it showed me these errors, in the image696e647863686b2e 1f7f6e74667363686b2e 17b4I can't access my files in the external disk, and I do not want to format it.Could someone help me with this issue?

Windows Explorer Freezes when External Harddisk is connected after upgrade to Windows 10

Hi, Folks,

I recently upgraded my laptop from Windows 8 to Windows 10.

My Seagate External Portable drive now does not open and freezes windows explorer until it is disconnected. Ditto with Disk Management - the Connecting to Virtual Disk Service... message is displayed without any information until the harddisk is disconnected.

Here is some additional information:

1) The harddisk works fine when I connect it to my desktop which also runs Win 10.

1a) The
Seagate site also says all expansion drives are compatible with Win10 with no additional softwares required.

2) The harddisk shows up as Seagate Portable USB device under Disk Drives in Device Manager and status is indicated as working properly on my laptop.

3) Clicking update driver on my USB controllers tells me they are up to date.

4) Ran the Hardware Troubleshooter for over two hours with no results.

5) The Seagate Diagnostic Tool indicates there are no bad sectors on the drive.

6) The issue persists in all USB ports on my laptop.

Pretty frustrated, any assistance would be appreciated.

External Harddisk

I do have a 1 TB harddisk and want to confirm whether it is physically damaged or there's another problem.

The issues that I am facing with the harddisk are:

1. It is not instantly recognized by my pc, it takes more than 5 seconds unlike other memory devices.

2. Harddisk always automatically gets disconnected during its usuage.

3. While copying files, an error message appears saying cannot find the file path specified.

4. Can't open the files in harddisk, every file copied seems to be corrupted.

5. Harddisk is unable to format in NTFS type, it only gets formatted in exfat 32 type.

I do have a suspicion of physical damage because I had carried it in my pocket during a light rain for about a minute.

Are these due to technical error or harddisk is physically damaged.
