Windows 10: Taskhostw.exe Playing Asterisk sound.

So I have a weird problem.Recently I've noticed my computer was playing an alert sound seemingly randomly during games, Zoom meetings and such. I used Process Monitor to narrow it down to Taskhostw.exe playing the Windows_Background.wav file when completing a series of tasks. Further examination yielded that Taskhostw.exe was triggering the Asterisk alert for some reason. I could just disable the Asterisk sound under System Sounds, but it only hides the issue.Usually it plays randomly. BUT I seem to be able to trigger it when using my font manager, FontBase. Windows Asterisk sound plays randomly every few minutes. How do I solve it?

My Windows 10 Pro keeps playing the Windows Asterisk sound randomly every few minutes.

Upon checking the Event logs, seems like there is a correlation with the security auditing. In the task catergory, it seems like there is a "Logon" and "Special Logon" event before the Asterisk sound plays.

What is going on? How do I solve it? The sound is very annoying! Thanks!

 

Random Asterisk Alert Sound

Wild guess. Under Setting>Notifications, do you have any apps set to "Play sound" only, with no banner or toast notification? I'm showing News only as an example here. The one circled, is it the only thing ON for any app?

 

Windows Asterisk Sound Plays When Typing on Desktop and Shutting Down PC
