  1. Only user in family, yet still can't manage any of the settings or leave

Hey there. I'm a minor, but considered old and responsible enough to manage myself when it comes to online activities. I used to be in a family with my father and two siblings, but everyone has since been removed from the family as to grant us freedoms. Issue is, rather than being in no family, I'm still in one, just alone. I can't tell if I'm considered a child or parent account; I can't open settings or manage anything, but the suggested features and my ability to invite organizers seem to imply I'm a parent account. This all wouldn't be an issue, but it seems like some old restrictions are

    :)

  2. Issue with family settings! I can't leave it...

    Hello Lucas,

We regret for the inconvenience. Let me assist you to resolve the issue.

As an initial recommendation, I suggest you to check if you’re using the latest version of Windows Live Family Safety, please follow the steps below.

    1. Sign in to your Windows Live Family Safety client.

    2. Click on the question mark icon.

    3. Select About Family Safety. The latest version is
    15.4.3555.0308.

If it still does not help, consider the below important points and check if it helps.

    • Sync the settings on both the Family Safety website & on the local computer (via the "Manage settings in Family Safety website" link in the Family Safety on Control Panel).

    • Verify that you have disabled/uninstalled any other third party real-time antimalware products that were installed on your PC, to check if any how incoming/outgoing connections to the PC are affected by the firewall.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have
to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done.

Also, refer to the section 'How can I tell if the Family Safety service is connected to my PC and set up correctly?' in the article provided below.

How do I COMLETELY remove a user from my Family group?

Thank you Javier for getting back to me on this question.

I went to the link that you suggested. The most applicable section was 'Add People to a home PC'.

I used the procedure under "If you need to remove that person's sign-in information from your PC:".

    Step 1; Successful

Step 2: There is no Remove option for that user; only Change Account Type and Allow

I also clicked on the Manage Family Settings link and the were were no users listed other than me (this is expected since there are no other users other than me.

I then restarted the computer and went through Step 1 again. The user was still under the Family group.

    Any other thoughts? Thanks.

Only user in family, yet still can't manage any of the settings or leave

Last member (Adult) unable to leave Family group

Why not set up an admin account with documented password, add it to the family group? Then you can take your account out, and still have (or leave) an admin/family group access account available. Just a thought/suggestion...
