    Bitlocker problem with USB-SATA adapter

The SATA connector on my Dell computer broke, I had a SSD and a SATA drive on my computer, both had bitlocker, a few months ago I could access the SATA Bitlocked drive using a USB-SATA adapter cable with no problem, now I cannot read it, seems like a windows update disabled my USB-SATA bitlocker access, please help!

SATA to USB-c adapter not working

Wanted to upgrade my 2 laptops and desktop hard drives to SSD. Bought 2 WD 500gb SSD's and a WD 1T SSD. Also bought a wavlink usb to sata adapter and used Macrium Reflec for cloning. Connected the first WD 500 to my Dell Inspiron (Win 10 Home) using Wavlink and proceeded to clone. Worked perfectly and replaced the drive with the SSD. Did the same with my Acer Aspire One (Win 10 Home). Worked perfectly. Attached the WD 1T SSD to my desktop (Win 10 Pro) using Wavlink and the troubles began. Drive wasn't recognized. Used Disk Manager and tried a multitude of things. No luck. Eventually attached the drive internally to a SATA port. Still had problems but eventually got it to work. Even partitioned the drive to copy over data from a second drive I had in the PC. The problem I have now is my Seagate external USB drive is no longer recognized when connected to any of my available USB ports. I've had this drive for years and used it for backups. I also tried using Wavlink to connect one of my old drives to a USB port and that didn't work either. To make sure the ports still worked I plugged in a SD card into my usb/sd card adapter and attached it to a couple of different ports and it is recognized and works correctly. I am frustrated and at a total loss as to what the problem is and what to do next. Thanks for any suggestions and help!

  3. Adding a fan to a USB to SATA adapter?

I am having an "old" 250 GB WD disk that I am currently using as an external HDD by means of an adapter (USB 3.0 to SATA III). The problem though is that the HDD runs a little hot so I wish to know whether it is possible to power a fan via the same adapter, e.g. by using a 15-pins SATA (power) to 4-pin Molex adapter and attaching a Molex to 3-pins KK to it for the fan.

I drew a simple schematic to picture it:

The only cable I still need is a Molex to 15-pins SATA female adapter (for connection with the USB/SATA adapter), so the other cables are already in my possesion. Would this work? Molex, 15-pins SATA and casefans support 12v but what voltage does the HDD use (relevant, because of the 4-pin Molex to 15-pin SATA between the rest and the HDD itself)?

    Thanks in advance.

    Bitlocker problem with USB-SATA adapter

Plug-in Adapter from Unitec Converts SATA to USB 3.0

A new adapter listed on online store usb.brando.com, the UNITEK USB 3.0 to SATA Adapter (Y-1034) promises to be an interesting accessory. The adapter connects to SATA HDDs/SSDs over a SATA 3 Gb/s interface, and to the host PC over USB 3.0 SuperSpeed. The new interface eliminates interface bottlenecks to provide speeds on-par with eSATA. The kit consists of the main unit which plugs into the the drive's SATA data+power connectors, and gives out a USB 3.0 cable. It takes in DC power input from its own power adapter. A quick HDTach run shows a conventional HDD to offer speeds on par with being connected to eSATA (effectively the system's own SATA interface). It is priced at US $49.
