Windows 10: Windows 10 activation after swapping motherboard

Hi,I installed a new Motherboard and now I cant activate windows. I bought Windows 10 pro with a digital key and it doesnt work. Im logged into my Windows account but cant find out, if the digital key is linked to it or not. I also cant find how to link this digital key to the account or to the new PC/Motherboard. It worked with the old motherboard and I also removed the old device from the device list in my windows account.What can I do?

Windows 10 not activated after motherboard swap

Hi,

I've ran into interesting problem after swapping out my computer's motherboard. The old motherboard contained a windows 8.1 pro key in the bios and the computer was upgraded to window 10 pro. After I swapped out the motherboard, the old one was fried, and
put the new one in, I can't activate windows anymore.

The new motherboard contains a new windows 8.1 key but is there a way to activate it? Or do i simply have to reinstall windows 10?

Microsoft account says I have a registered Windows 10 device but will not activate after motherboard swap

Hello! I just got a new motherboard and processor and I have attempted the following steps to reactivate my Windows but it will not reactivate. What can I do next?

• Attempted to activate via Activation screen in settings (no options to activate)
  
• Ran troubleshooter from Activation screen and the troubleshooter failed with code 0xc004f213
  
• Attempted to recover key from OS via VBS script (returned key was all BBBBB-BBBB...)
  
• Confirmed machine is listed under my microsoft account, where the key listed there is "default string".
  
• Ran through an additional online troubleshooter from Microsoft for this problem and it suggested i submit a ticket.
  

I'm not surprised that I've run into a licensing problem, as I upgraded in-place when Windows 10 conversions were free from Microsoft, from a very old version of Windows 7 which I acquired legitimately via university. I do not have access to the original Windows 7 key, nor did I receive a key for Windows 10 from the 7-to-10 conversion. That does not change the fact that the version of Windows was activated and verified before the motherboard change and the machine is still listed on my microsoft account.

I have just done a motherboard swap on my PC and have decided to reinstall Windows. When I come to activate Windows it spits out the error code 0xC004C003. I originally started with Windows 8.1 but then upgraded to Windows 10 on launch day.
