  1. SMB transfer speeds severely throttled after upgrade to Windows 11 Pro from Windows 10

We run 40GB network at my company and the workstations on Windows 10 currently receive speeds of 20-35GB r/w using intel X710-BM2 cards. All of the systems have the exact same hardware and software, drivers and firmware. When I upgrade clean install one of these Windows 10 workstations to Windows 11, the transfer speeds drop to 6-9GB. I have swapped hardware, cables, tried many different drivers, fresh re-install of windows and countless card configurations but nothing changes. I can remove the hard drive running Windows 11 and replace it with one running Windows 10 and the speeds return.

File Transfer Speed from Windows 11 to Synology NAS is VERY SLOW vs. Windows 10

I have a new Windows 11 PC and I'm noticing that the file sharing to my Synology NAS is very slow vs when I transferred files from my older Windows 10 PC.

    File Transfer Speeds:

    • Windows 11 to NAS (DS1520+) = 11.5 MB/s
    • Windows 11 to Windows 10 = 112 MB/s (much faster)
    • File size = 30GB

    Note:

    • Windows PCs and NAS are all Ethernet connected on 1GB home network.
    • Running: Windows 11 Pro 23H2
    • Running: DSM 7.2.1-69057 Update 5

Any suggestions on how to speed this up would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

Windows 11 PRO 22H2 Slow SMB Download

I use Windows 11 PRO 22H2 to transfer files to my NAS server.

The transfer speed of big files (3GB+) from Windows to NAS is on expected level. The transfer speed is about 260+ MB/s on 2.5 Gbps connection, if connection is 2x2.5 Gbps (multichannel SMB is ON) the transfer speed is about 550+ MB/s. It works more or less OK.

BUT, the transfer speed of big files (3GB+) from NAS to Windows is very low. The transfer speed is about 140 MB/s (stable) on 2.5 Gbps connection and 280-290 MB/s (stable) on multichannel SMB connection (2x2.5 Gbps). So, reading files from NAS is 2 times slower than writing the same big file(s) to NAS. I use different Windows Clients to transfer files e.g. Windows File Explorer or Windows Commander. The results are more or less the same, the reading operation is about 2x slower than writing operation.

Windows Task Manager does not report CPU, memory, network or destination disk overload, a lot of free resources.

I have no idea what is cause of this issue. Any idea what is the reason of the problem ?
