    Snipping Tool Recording File of 4 GB Got Reduced to 10 MB – How Can I Recover It?


    I recorded a 3-hour screen video using the Snipping Tool on Windows 11.Initially, the file size was around 4 GB, and everything seemed fine.But after a few days, the same file now shows only 10 MB in size and plays only 17 seconds. I’ve previously used Snipping Tool to record long videos successfully. Is there any way I can recover the full recording?Are there any hidden cache/temp folders or recovery steps I can try? I'd really appreciate any guidance — this was an important file.

    Can I recover an older recording from snipping tool?

    Hello!

    I recorded a video using the Windows 11 snipping tool. I accidentally closed the preview before I could save it a few days ago, and I haven't been able to recover video. I can recover videos that were recorded on the same day (using LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.ScreenSketch_8wekyb3d8bbwe\TempState), but not videos that are a few days old.



    I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to recover older videos that were not saved.

    Hi

    I was recording using the snipping tool. For some reason, there is half audio and half no audio in the recording when finished. Can I recover the half part of audio?

    Can't screen record with snipping tool.

    When I try to screen record with the snipping tool, it loads for a couple of seconds and then denies me. Any suggestions?
