  1. Is it Possible to Recover an Older/Used Restore Point?

Last night, I accidentally turned my computer off while it was updating. Nothing worked and I was forced to reset my computer and reinstall Windows 11 from the Cloud. During my attempts to do anything but reset, I used a restore point dating back right before my screw up, May 26th 2025. I used it twice because I remained on the repair menu anyway, and after the second time, it vanished then, before I reset my PC. It was after I lost all of my apps that didn't come with my computer that I realized I could have fixed all my issues even if I loaded this restore point once. I'm here to ask a quest

    :)

Restore points are using more space than is allocated?

Thank you. 1. 'Disk Space Usage' box clearly states "older restore points will be deleted to make room for new ones" but this is not happening. 2. Step 1 should have deleted all restore points but Step 2 suggests that it had found "older restore points". User settings are being ignored by Windows? Maybe a Windows 10 bug? Not a big problem. Just another annoyance. I'll just have to manually delete RPs from time to time I think.

    Recovering files

Hi, you would need to describe exactly what you have done step by step as the possibilities in your minimal description are many. We don't even know for sure exactly where your original disk is or what method you have used, so no point suggesting data recovery methods yet. I could provide a page of questions, but better if you take the initiative as a list a. I .... b. Then I ... c. ... Thanks.

    System Restore Point Questions

    Thanks, Dave!

Suppose I go back to an earlier version of C: with the desired restore point, restore from it and create a restore point on D:, then reload the current C:. Will I be able to restore from that restore point on D:?

    Step by step:

    1. Enable Restore for D:
    2. Back up the C: drive with Acronis.
    3. Restore C: to an earlier date with the desired restore point, from the Acronis backup image.
    4. Restore the system from the desired restore point.
    5. See if Restore is still enabled for D:. If not, enable it there, with the same capacity as in step 1.
    6. Disable Restore for C:.
    7. Create a restore point. Since there's no availability on C:, it should be created on D:, and be identical to the desired restore point.
    8. Now put C: back to the current version using the backup created in step 2.

Will the system now recognize that restore point on D: and let me restore from it?

(Edited to add the explanation, and step 4.)
