Windows 10: stop syncing on this device?

I want a local user to use this new computer but i signed in with my Microsoft credentials. all of my files automatically backed up and I don't want to risk someone seeing these. how do i still allow a local user to use, but never see my stuff?

Microsoft Maps favorites stopped syncing between devices

I'm not sure that addresses the issue. Favorites stopped syncing on the phone and Surface Pro at the same time. Are you suggesting I use this tool on both devices?
