Windows 10: Error 0x80048823 when trying to verify identity for microsoft account

So my old Microsoft account was compromised, and the email was changed to be an alias of something like 23***qq.com, and any attempt to recover my account was met with the message that it wasn't recognised - effectively it no longer existed and there wasn't really much I could do to recover it. So i've made this new one instead using my email again.However, this has caused a bit of chaos on my PC as now I need to verify my identity to update some account info on my user account since it was linked to the old, compromised account that still displays my email. I've gotten it to the point where
