Windows 10: Windows Media Player refuses to update album info anymore

I'd like to keep all the info of the music I have on my pc updated, and up until recetly WMP worked perfectly fine for this. I'd add the artist, album and other info directly through the audio file by going to properties, and then when put in the music folder WMP would most of the time immediately update the album cover with the information provided. For more obscure songs like soundtracks from videogames I'd just update the info and album cover myself and hit save right in WMP and that would all work fine too.Recently however, when trying to edit ANY information in WMP it just gives me an

THE FIX for "Find Album Information" Windows Media Player for Windows 10

I was having difficulty updating my album info in Windows Media Player. I tried just about everything online to no avail. Then I followed these steps and it provided the resolution.

1. On the Start Menu - Type Manage Optional Features - You may have to enter your Admin credentials.

2. Scroll down and find Windows Media Player.

3. Click on it and select "Uninstall." It will disappear from the list.

4. Proceed to the top of the "Manage Optional Features" list and press the "+ Add a Feature."

5. Scroll all the way down the list, and select Windows Media Player, and select "Install."

6. Open up Windows Media Player, go to one of your Unknown Albums, right click on the Album picture, and select Find Album Information.

Windows Media Player "Find Album Info" Issue

This issue could have occurred due to these reasons:

  Incorrect Windows Media Player settings.
  
• 
  Corrupt Windows Media player library database.
  

Try the steps listed here and check if it helps.

Method 1:

I would suggest you to run Windows Media Player Library Troubleshooter.

a. Press “Windows Key + W”.

b. Type “Troubleshooting” in the search box and hit Enter.

c. Click on Programs and click on Windows Media Player Library Troubleshooter.

d. Follow the on-screen instructions.



Method 2:

If the issue persists, I suggest you to rebuild the Windows Media player library database and check if it helps.

a. Exit Windows Media Player.

b. Press Windows Key + R in keyboard to open Run, type
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.

c. Select all the files in the folder, and then click Delete
on the File menu.

Note: You do not have to delete the folders that are in this folder.

d. Restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.
