Windows 10: How to set cameras in Windows 11 to prevent screen timeout when in use?

I work in a school and our teachers make use of Visualizers connected via desktop to a smart board to show things to students. As part of the organization's security policy we have a mandated screen timeout/lock after 5 minutes of inactivity. Since we moved to Windows 11 a lot of users have been complaining that their screen times out even when the camera is in use. This was not the case when we were running Windows 10. Is there a power/device policy that can be applied in Active Directory or even just on the device themselves to prevent screen timeout when an external camera is in use?

How to change the Screen Timeout settings

  Right click on the desktop and click on Personalization.
  
• 
  Click on Lock screen
  
• 
  On the bottom of the screen click on Screen Timeout.
  
• 
  Under screen select the Time period accordingly.

How to extend or eliminate the timeout at sign in on an Acer Windows

Hi Lori,

To address your concern, we suggest that you adjust your screen timeout setting. It helps you set the time on how long before the screen will be locked due to inactivity.

You can follow the steps below on how to set your screen timeout:

1. Right-click on the Desktop, then choose Personalize.

2. Click Lock screen found on the left pane.

3. Click Screen timeout settings at the bottom part of the page.

4. Choose your preferred screen timeout on the drop down list under Screen.

Screen saver not following settings

Hi Jim,

To help you set your screen configuration properly, kindly follow these steps:

• Press Windows + I.
  
• Under Personalization, select Lock screen.
  
• Go to Screen timeout settings.
  
• Set your desired screen saver timeout duration under the Screen
  option.
