Windows 10: How to get Windows License onto new PC

I used a Windows 7 key to activate Windows 10 back in 2020, when that was still supported.Today, I decided to upgrade my main storage to an SSD, and perform a clean re-install of Windows 10.Now I've downloaded the same version, Windows 10 Home Single Language, and I've logged in, but Windows isn't activated.My old key doesn't work, and when I look at my Microsoft account, I see my "old" PC is still listed, with the Windows License included, but Windows doesn't realize that THIS PC, is the same as that "old" one. It refuses to Activate, and I feel like the solutions are sending me in circles.

Yes, thank you, these are the relevant steps. I only want to point out one thing, since the instructions are a bit misleading.

Once you get to step 5 and see a list of devices linked to your Microsoft account, you need to select your old device from the list. So open the Activation page from the new device and select the old device in the list and mark it as This is the device I’m using right now.

My initial understanding was that you need to find your new device in the list and mark it as the currently active one. What you're actually doing is selecting the device from which to take the Windows license.

I have now successfully transferred my Windows license to my new device.

I will reiterate:

• On my old PC I had Windows 10 Pro. I bought a digital license for it 3 years ago from the Microsoft store. In the Activation page it clearly says: "Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account". When I run "slmgr /dlv" from an admin cmd, it clearly says that it's a retail key, not OEM.
  
• I did a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro on my new PC. When I try going through "Activation > Troubleshoot > I changed hardware on this device recently", my new PC does not show up there. Only my old PC shows up. However it listed on my Microsoft account in the web. So I'm 100% logged in with the same Microsoft account on both devices.
  
• I did a fresh install of Windows 10 Home of my old PC, hoping it would unlink the license from the old PC. It did not.
  

So now using your suggestions: on my old PC, I entered the default Pro key. It upgraded successfully and automatically pulled my old retail key. I'm back at the start.

Also, I would very much like to contact the official customer support, but they don't provide one for my country (Serbia). I cannot enter my phone number and wait to be called.

 

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
