Windows 10: BitLocker locked me out, account was hacked, and Microsoft suspended it when I asked for help

So yeah, I’m completely stuck.My Windows laptop suddenly asked for a BitLocker recovery key. I never turned BitLocker on myself — it just kicked in after a reboot. The recovery key was tied to a Microsoft account that got hacked.I tried reaching out to Microsoft support to get access back, and instead of helping, they suspended the account entirely. Now I can’t get into the account or access the recovery key. I’ve checked every other possible backup location — USBs, emails, screenshots — nothing. There’s no key anywhere.So right now:I’m locked out of my own laptopI can’t get the BitLocker keyI

We suggest doing the following steps again to resolve the issue. To complete the procedure, make sure that you have the following information:

• You must be able to provide administrative credentials.
• The drive must be BitLocker-protected.

To suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption on an operating system drive, please follow the steps below:

• Click Start, click Control Panel, click
  System and Security, and then click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
• Click Suspend Protection for the operating system drive.
• A message is displayed, informing you that your data will not be protected while BitLocker is suspended and asking if you want to suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption.
  
• Click Yes to continue and suspend BitLocker on the drive.

Bitlocker status when suspended?

This might sound a bit silly, but bear with me.

I have bitlocker installed on my laptop, which was stolen yesterday.

There was an issue the other month where for some reason bitlocker suspended itself and I had to manually restart it.

If I go to my devices on the Microsoft account site, "BitLocker data protection" lists shows "bitlocker: on" - I just want to confirm that really means on, if it was suspended would it then show as suspended?

Just want to try and put my mind at rest, thanks!

Suspended Account

Something similar happened to me. I set up a computer for a family member and when logging in on a secondary MS acct for support purposes, I incorrectly typed my password and was then asked to enter a code texted to a last 4 nos. that I didn't realize was a 2nd phone that I used for 2-step verification. So when I said that wasn't my backup number, the acct was auto-locked for 30 days, nothing to do but wait. At least the family member had a Local Account and was able to use the device until I was re-instated, whereupon I was able to sign-in and verify my 2nd step in the verification process.
If you used your land line as the 2nd step, I'm afraid, you're, likewise, locked out until the 30 day period is over. By then, either get a secondary email acct, as suggested, or a burner phone that takes texts so you're VERY clear as to what your 2nd verification option is. This is a case where having a Local Acct with admin privileges would be invaluable. Good Luck with your efforts.
