Windows 10: Excel prompts for addins run into problems while user tries to start additional excel...

I have a domain user needs to use multi excel instance every day. Recently when he tries to start a new excel instance, as long as there is any excel addin currently enabled, then the startup of 2nd instance will take long loading, eventually prompts error saying "Excel is running into problems with 'c:\blp\api\office tools\bloomberggui.xla' add-in. If this keeps happening. Disable this add-in and check for available updates. Do you want to disable it now?"I looked around checking what the issue was and had no luck. Below are some items i tested.1. The error is not limited to the BBG add-in. A

VSTO addin for excel

Hi,

I have developed a VSTO addin for excel. I understand that Visual studio tools for office runtime should be installed in a workstation in order for the addin to work. and i need to install the addin using a service. So inorder for this to happen, VSTO should
be installed at first. So can i bundle the vstor_redist.exe and the VSTO excel addin in my application. Or what is the best way to do so? Because if i am installing the addin using a windows service i have to install it using "vstoinstaller.exe /install Setup.exe
/silent" command. So i need vsto runtime to be installed first.

 

Excel Com-addins Issue With the Latest Windows update 1903

Hi,

We have developed a Com-Addin for Excel which is a VSTO based and has a Custom Task Pane with Web Browser hoisted inside Task Pane. Everything was working fine till the windows updates. Once the updates are done the problem started none of our clients are
able to type anything in the browser control. It stopped accepting the keystrokes. We are clueless on this issue. Can anyone please help us in providing a workaround or solution for this.

This is Wil, one of the independent advisor, an expert with Windows 10 and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. I understand your concern about Excel.

The location of Excel program actually depends on what version and architecture (32bit or 64bit) did you installed.

For 32bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16

For 64bit: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16

You may also launch the Excel by:

1. Clicking on the Start button and navigate on the list of programs until you see Excel under section E.

2. You may also run excel through run command by pressing Windows key + R and type excel press Enter or click OK.
