Windows 10: I just updated my bios and now Microsoft won't send me security account to reset my pin!

Title sums it up nice. After a few problems with my computer I tried to update my ANCIENT 2021 bios to a newer version... Which made my pin unavailable. So, I click on "configure my new pin", and get a message telling me that they will send me a verification code to my outlook email.I go to my ONLY outlook email account. I NEVER used another outlook email account not even ONCE on this computer, let alone to connect me on my Microsoft account, hoping that I'll receive that precious security verification code....And it never comes. So what ? Now I'm permanently locked out of my 2000€ gaming co

Can't log in to windows after a BIOS update, due to phonenumber change and PIN reset

Hi,

This is what happened:

• My HP Omen 15 did a BIOS update (through windows updater).
  
• After the BIOS update I had to reset my password.
  
  (it gave me the following message: Your PIN is no longer available due to a change to the security settings on this device. Click to set up your PIN again)
  
• In order to reset my password I had to log in to my Microsoft account
  
• After logging in it needs to send me a code via SMS
  

So far so good...

• Turns out the phone number I have set up was my old one
  
• I changed the old phonenumber to send the code to
  
• Now I have to wait a month for Microsoft to process the change in phonenumber
  
• Because I have to wait a month for them to process the change in phonenumber, I now can't re-setup my PIN, which means I can't use my laptop for a month
  

Is there any way to speed up the process of changing my phonenumber?
I have a second email setup, is there a way to send the code there instead of to my phone?

Resetting PIN on HP Pavilion 11k102U

Hi,

To reset pin to can follow the below steps:

• Click on the Windows icon in the left-hand corner of your screen, you’ll open up the Start menu. Next click on
  Settings.
• When the Settings app opens, click on Accounts.
• Click on Sign-in options on the left pane. Under the PIN section, click on the “I forgot my PIN” link.
  
• The password reset procedures differ between Microsoft account and local account.
  

For Local Account:

• If you’re using a local account, Windows will prompt you to verify your local account password. Enter your password and click OK.
  

You’re now prompted to set up PIN again. Enter 4 digit number for your new PIN login and click
OK. If you want to remove and disable the PIN, click Cancel.

For Microsoft Account:

• If you PIN is for a Microsoft account, you’ll see this confirmation dialog. Click
  Continue to confirm that you really forgot your PIN.
• Microsoft will send you a security code to validate that you are the owner of the Microsoft account. Enter the recovery email address for verification and click on
  Next.
• Check your email account and look for a message from Microsoft account team. Copy the security code from the mail and paste it in the Code text box. Click on
  Next.
• Now you can either set up a new PIN or click Cancel to disable/remove the PIN login completely.

Updated BIOS - PIN no longer available - ?TPM issue

I couldn't because I only had one account on the PC, an administrator Microsoft account, which I could not get into Windows from because of the BIOS update and reset of PIN. The other lesson I took away from this experience is to always activate the 'local' administrator account which is not linked to a Microsoft account. This will then always allow you to login to Windows to use this option.
