No sound anymore on Windows computer and issue has lasted almost 5 months

Need help. There is no sound anymore on my Windows computer since around the end of January and trust me I have tried everythng to fix it and nothing has worked. I have also had a microsoft agent connect remotely to my computer and he couldn't fix the problem too. The computer doesn't have any physical damage to it, is relatively new and had no prior issues with it. I remember turning on the computer one day around the end of January this year and there has been no sound ever since. I don't know if this correlates to anything but when I opened the computer on the day that I first noticed that

  2. Update Windows 10 after 5 months in storage?

    Hi Nitram,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community and being a part of Windows 10.

I understand your concern about installing the latest updates on your device.

Do let us know the following to assist you better:

    • Which were the updates you found to be installed on youe device?
    • Did you check if those update are already installed under View installed updates?
    • What exactly do you mean by: "My PC has been in storage for 5 months"?

Try the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to check if those updates are already installed:

    Follow:

    • Right click on the Start button and select Programs and Features.
    • Click on View installed updates.

    Step 2: Disable anti-virus software.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install
other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

If the issue still persists, I suggest you to uninstall the anti-virus software.

Step 3: I suggest you to
    run Windows Update troubleshooter
    .

Windows Update troubleshooter resolves problems that prevents you from updating windows.

    Steps:

    • Press Windows + X, click on Control Panel, select
Category and then select Large or Small icons.
    • Click on Troubleshooting and click on
View all in the left pane.
    • Select Windows Update to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter
      and follow the on-screen instructions.

Hope it helps. Try the above and get back to us with an updated status of this issue for further assistance.

  3. Unresolved issue for last 5 months

I would like to draw your kind attention towards the problem I am facing with my handset as well as the support I am getting from Nokia Care.

To make the story shorter I've been facing this problem ( mentioned in job sheet ) since the day I purchased the phone ( for last 5 months ) and yet to get it fixed.

Perhaps you will be able to track only few complaints on this IMIE ( I have saved last 4 job sheets ) the reason is its really hard to contact nokia care for simple and repeatative issues. Everytime I have to wait for minimum 1 hour to talk with nokia care
rep. The worse thing is when the issue is fixed I still have to wait for 1 hour just to collect the hand set. This is the only reason of my less attempts to report mentioned problem every time I face it.

For last 4 attempts I have submitted my hand set at least for 3 days at nokia care and they have done nothing but either formatted the handset or updated the firmware which I clearly explained them, that it has been done by the first operator. Anyways I don't
have any concern with what your staff is doing but my concern is to get support rapidly and fixed once for all ( not 5 months more )

I am really disappointed and frustrated with your product and support I received for last 5 months that why I am demanding to get good customer support and a call from authorized person who can understand my frustration

  4. No sound anymore on Windows computer and issue has lasted almost 5 months

Echo sound effect since last update.

    Hi,

I suggest you to follow the methods given below and check if it helps.

    Method 1: Run Audio Troubleshooter

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Sound. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Audio.

    Refer these steps:

    • Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
    • Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
    • Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
    • Run the playing Audio troubleshooter.

Method 2: Sound problems can be caused by cables that aren't connected properly, damaged drivers, incompatible drivers, sound settings, missing updates, and problems with your
    sound card.

I request you to follow the below steps:

    Step 1:
    Uninstall the Sound card Drivers

    • Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.
    • Click on “Device Manager” from that list.
    • Search for the Sound driver from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove the corrupted drivers
      from the computer.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and the restart the computer if prompted.
    • After the restart, please go ahead with the next steps to install the latest drivers and check if that resolves the issue.

Update Driver Software from the Manufacturer’s website.

Step 2: Go to the Computer or Sound Card manufacturer’s website and search for the latest Windows 10 drivers available for the Sound Card model and then install it by following
the instructions given in the website.

    Step 3:

Test the sound from Control Panel.

    1. Here’s how: Right-click on sound icon in the taskbar and select Recording Devices“”.

    2. Select “Playback”.

    3. Go to “Configure” Tab and click on Test. Is there any echo?
