Greetings,This a question that has been asked multiple times before on Microsoft Community threads — however, after reading all of them, there really was no true solution to the problem, or even a comprehensive explanation on the issue.This problem only unveils itself via applications downloaded on Microsoft Store — after being installed, their Desktop shortcut icons will turn into “blank page” icons after a short while for unexplainable reasons.This also happens to the Microsoft Store icon if one has it on Desktop.I have tried in various instances to fix it using answers received on threads o

Desktop chrome shortcut icons turned into blank papers!!!

It's possible that the antivirus app you installed, RAV endpoint protection, caused the issue with your Chrome shortcut icons turning into blank papers. Antivirus apps can sometimes interfere with the functioning of other programs, including changing the appearance of icons.

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

1. Restart your computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix minor issues with icons.
   
2. Rebuild the icon cache: The icon cache is a database that stores the icons for all the files and programs on your computer. If the cache becomes corrupted, it can cause issues with icons. To rebuild the icon cache, follow these steps:
   
   • Open File Explorer and navigate to the following folder: C:\Users[Your Username]\AppData\Local
     
   • Locate the "IconCache.db" file and delete it (you may need to enable the option to show hidden files and folders in File Explorer settings).
     
   • Restart your computer.
     
3. Reset Chrome shortcuts: If the issue persists only with Chrome shortcuts, you can try resetting them by following these steps:
   
   • Right-click on the blank paper icon and select "Properties."
     
   • In the Properties window, click on the "Shortcut" tab.
     
   • Click on the "Change Icon" button.
     
   • In the "Change Icon" window, click on the "Restore Defaults" button.
     
   • Click "OK" to save the changes.

Windows 11 - Random desktop icons turn white, blank page.

Since updating to Windows 11 random desktop icons turn white or a blank page., however the application / program works. Randomly the icons turn white with no rhyme or reason. Any fixes ?

Dear Windows

I was a Windows 11 insider, but all of a sudden all my desktop icons began to blank or turn white

Then I removed myself from the insider program and the problem continues

I can use the various short-term fixes but it keeps occurring

Then tried this one, but it says you cannot delete as Windows is using them

1. Clear icon cache

• Press windows+R and type in the following address:
  
• %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
  

Delete all the .db files that start with iconcache

Help anyone who has figured out a long term fix as this is highly annoying
