Windows 10: Why does one of my laptops register a monitor input switch and the other doesnt?

I have this problem that I think I have seen variations of on the internet but I can't find the exact scenario or a solution.First, I will give you an overview of my setup. I have a work laptop dell if it matters <-> monitor acer <-> personal laptop lenovo. Both laptops are connected to the monitor through a physical HDMI switch so that I can easily switch focus between the two inputs as and when needed.Here's the issue I'm having. So you are suggesting that in the event this cable goes for a six, I try out the HDMI port? Seems quite a tenable suggestion - I never thought of that!

Please follow below steps to resolve the message by switching the input source to HDMI: 1. Press "Menu" hotkey on the monitor to enter OSD. 2. Switch the input source to HDMI on OSD in one of the following ways:

• Go to Display > Input > HDMI.
• Go to System > HDMI Auto Switch > On.

 

Windows 10 touchscreen input registering on wrong monitor

I had a similar problem (a touch screen built into the laptop and a touch-enabled monitor connected. touching the monitor registered on the laptop screen. Following the above steps and tapping the primary screen where the text showed, hitting enter to
move the text to the monitor, and tapping that screen, got everything back to normal.
