I'm the new IT tech at a cancer center and find that a number of the Nic's in my CI configuration Item report of host name and all NIC's are listed as "e1dexpress", with a few as "e1ednexpress". This is sometimes seen on micro desktops mounted on mobile carts. The majority are set in place at nurses stations or offices. A very few are laptops that are docked and undocked.I'm curious about why I see this. I'd like to know so I can better understand the Nics and what this means when I look at my reports.

    :)

  2. Wireless NIC is no longer detected by the PC

Eventually issue was resolved after performing the steps below (step n°4 is key)

    1-Clean boot

    • the wifi card appeared, but was greyed out

    2-Windows upgrade from 21H2 to 22H2

    • Service WWLAN AutoConfig still didn't appear in services.msc
    • Wifi card didn't appear in Device Manager
3-Running this sequence on network configs
netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled
    netsh winsock reset
    netsh int ip reset
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    ipconfig /flushdns

    4-Proper power-cycling of the PC

meaning shutdown+start (instead of simple restart)

    And the result

    • Wi-Fi option/icon is back appearing in 'Network and Internet Settings'
    • Wi-Fi NIC is now detected automatically and enabled in Device Manager
Thanks Bernard for your guidance !

  3. Windows 10 - NIC, DNS, Interent Access Problem

    ANSWER

    Folks,

    • when you cannot connect to the network consistently
    • when going to www.bing.com doesn't work and can't resolve (DNS error)
    • when you Reset Windows 10 Pro
    • when you Reset the network interfaces (netsh, etc)
    • when you Re-Install Windows from scratch
    • when you install the NIC drivers
don't be dumb like me. Just get another network card like I finally did. The network card was bad on the motherboard. I installed a new network card, turned it on, and the network and Internet worked flawlessly. Granted, NICs don't normally go bad.
But when they do you can really go round and round.

Thanks for all the great suggestions.

    Darryl
