Windows 10: Can't install 2025-05 Cumulative Update Preview for this month. I keep getting 0x0073712....

Hey guys. I'm using Windows 11 by the way, just to clarify. Something's just not clicking here. For about a solid 2 days, this update refused to push. I wasn't sure what to do, so I came here honestly. It kept pushing on this error, refusing to spit out anything BUT that. However, ONCE, it said that "proper system files weren't found" or something along the lines of that. Now, I am considering my options. I am considering fully resetting Windows files intact, that is or try to run /sfc scannow and another few dependencies like recovering online instead of just winging it. However, I want to

2023-05 Cumulative Update KB5026361 update failure 0x800f0831

Usual fix for that is an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data like any 'upgrade' procedure. I seem to recall that was suggested in your previous thread. Tutorial available, and I've posted a 4 step short-form procedure many many times. Were you to search tenforums for 0x800f0831 you might find e.g.

I tried everything you suggested and still got nothing. Do you have any other ways? I'm stuck with my 2023-05 Cumulative Update Preview

 

How do I disable the "Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11" updates?

Thank you Dhanam for your quick resoponce, Two things,

• Don't confuse the "Cumulative Update Preview" updates with the "Cumulative Update Preview for Windows Insiders". It is two different things. As I stated initially, I am NOT part of the Windows Insider Program.
  
• I do to wish to pause all updates. The "Cumulative Update Preview" package is a separate update package that Microsoft sends out each month. I just don't want to receive that particular update. I only want the updates AFTER they have been previewed.
