Windows 10: 2 problems. 1 If I unplug my laptop from the charger while it is on, the laptop...

Picked up my Asus E510 Windows laptop today to do some admin only to discover that while the laptop is on, if I unplug the charger, the laptop crashes/turns off. I have also discovered that while the laptop is on charge, the battery won't go past 50% even after being on charge for more than a few hours. I've tried to Google solutions, but nothing has really helped. I've gone into settings and run a troubleshoot on the battery to no avail, it says that there is nothing wrong with the battery. What should I do? I have only had this laptop for 3.5 years.

Laptop Chargers

Do laptop chargers have to be specific for the laptop or can I buy one for any laptop? I have a Gateway M-6750 in perfect condition but no charger to really use it. How much are they and where can I get one? Thank you!
