  1. How to prevent mouse from booting computer from sleep

Hi,How can I turn off waking my laptop up by moving mouse? This "feature" is really inconvenient, considering that my laptop overheats in my bag when it wakes up again immediately after going to sleep by putting the mouse in the bag.I'm missing the Power Management tab in Device Manager, so this isn't the way to go for me.Is there any way to deactivate it?Thank youKlara

Mouse won't wake up computer from sleep.

When my computer goes to sleep, power light is blinking on the computer so perhaps it's deep sleep, moving the USB attached mouse does not wake it up.
Allow mouse to wake is enabled:

This used to work, even with 2004 but somewhere with one of their updates it stopped working. I tried a new mouse, same problem. Any suggestions?

Yes, I've done many Google searches and looked at lots of responses but there really is nothing more than the above as far as a suggested fix.

I've uninstalled the mouse from Device Manager then rebooted, no help.

USB attached keyboard works okay and wakes the computer.

  3. Microsoft Wireless USB Keyboard/Mouse Dongle Still Prevents Computer from Sleeping

    Hello Lo Yuk Fai (New)

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

It sounds like you've encountered a rather frustrating issue with your Microsoft Wireless USB Keyboard/Mouse Dongle preventing your computer from entering sleep mode. This type of problem can indeed be quite perplexing, especially when it doesn't manifest across all devices, as in your case with the Surface.

Given that setting the sleep timer to 1 minute seems to provide a temporary workaround, this suggests that the issue might be related to how the dongle communicates with the system's power management settings. It's possible that the dongle is sending intermittent signals that the system interprets as activity, thus preventing it from sleeping as expected.

In terms of a solution, you're right in hoping for an updated driver that could address this issue. In the meantime, there are a few steps you can try to potentially mitigate the problem:

    1. Update Drivers and Firmware: Ensure that all your drivers and firmware are up to date, not just for the dongle but also for your ThinkPad and any other relevant hardware.
    2. Power Management Settings: Check the power management settings for the USB ports in Device Manager. Sometimes, allowing the computer to turn off the device to save power can help.
    3. Different USB Port: Try using a different USB port for the dongle. Sometimes, specific ports can cause compatibility issues.
    4. Microsoft attaches great importance to user experience, you can submit your ideas and suggestions through the Feedback Hub, and the development team will regularly review submissions for ideas or fixes.

  4. How to prevent mouse from booting computer from sleep

Need help preventing mouse from booting computer from sleep.

Hi wootimbored! My name is David. I am a user of Microsoft products like you, and it is a pleasure to greet you.

I'm sorry to hear about the frustration you're experiencing. Let's try to address the issue step by step.

Given the steps you've already taken, here are a few more suggestions to prevent the mouse from waking up your Windows 11 PC:

    1. Update Device Drivers: It's possible that outdated drivers may not work correctly with Windows 11.

    a. Right-click the Start button and select "Device Manager".

    b. Locate the "Mice and other pointing devices" section.

    c. Right-click on your mouse and choose "Update driver".

    d. Follow the prompts to search for and install any available updates.

    2. Advanced Power Settings:

    a. Right-click the battery icon on the taskbar and select "Power Options".

    b. Click on "Change plan settings" next to your current power plan.

    c. Click on "Change advanced power settings".

    d. In the new window, expand the "USB settings" and then "USB selective suspend setting". Set it to "Disabled".

    e. Click "OK" to apply the changes.

I would like to know an additional piece of information to consider regarding your issue:

    * Is this problem occurring on a desktop PC or a laptop?

    * Could you provide the model of your laptop, if applicable, or the external mouse you are using?

If the problem persists after trying the above steps, please let me know, and I'd be happy to assist further. Greetings.
