  1. Windows 11 ssd running low and want to add a new ssd

Ok so my main c drive on my tower is running low on a space. i have external hard drives, but want to purchase a new ssd and replace the old one. How hard is it to transfer the windows installation on to a new ssd , ie clone the ssd on to a back up then transfer it to a new ssd when its installed , or any advise on how to switch the ssds so the pc does not take long to resetup

    :)

  2. New windows 10 installtion on New SSD - wont boot unless old SSD present

It seems you installed Windows while the both SSDs were connected. This would have caused your current problem. Maybe it is sufficient to do this:

    1. Launch the Disk Manager.
    2. Right-click drive C:, then mark it as "active".
    3. Shut down Windows
    4. Open the BIOS and tell it that the new SSD is the primary boot device.
    5. Disconnect the old SSD.
    6. Boot up normally.

If this does not work then you might have to do this:

    1. Disconnect the old SSD.
    2. Re-install Windows on the new SSD, using the Media Creation Tool.

  3. Cloning low capacity SSD to a high Capacity SSD disk before Activating the Windows on a new PC/MiniPC/Laptop

I have bought a new MiniPC with 500 GB SSD (M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0) preinstalled with OEM Windows 11 Pro.

I have not Activated the Windows 11 Pro yet.

Can I first clone the preinstalled 500 GB SSD (M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0) to a new 2 TB SSD (M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0) before activating the Windows?

And then Activate the Windows in the new SSD directly?

    Does this use case work?

Or should I activate the New PC unchanged and then clone / fresh install the Windows 11 Pro in a new SSD?

  4. Windows 11 ssd running low and want to add a new ssd

Cloning low capacity SSD to a high Capacity SSD disk before Activating the Windows on a new PC/MiniPC/Laptop

But the new PC is unopened. If I am right, once I switch ON, it will guide me through the configuration process, such as language, network connection, email ID, account, etc.

Instead of switching ON, If I clone the SSD to a new higher capacity SSD.

    Then remove the pre-installed SSD

Connect the new SSD that was cloned just now.

Power ON and run through Windows 11 configuration process.

Will this activate the OEM license without fail?
