Windows 10: How Do I COMPLETELY Wipe My Computer?

Hello. I believe there is a chance on my computer that there is a rootkit with administrative access. I am working on doing what I can to completely wipe my computer clean. I already performed a re install on my computer. I used the update and recover, but that didn't work, so I went to BIOS, troubleshoot, selected clean drive, and resetted from there. Issue is, I still believe the rootkit is on there. There are no signs, but I just prefer to be safe than sorry.What is the method to completely, and I mean COMPLETELY, wipe my computer? I still want to be able to use it afterwards. I do have a U

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Wiping computer

Your report suggests that your installation has suffered some damage which prevents Windows from doing a reset. In such stubborn cases I would do this:

1. Create a new media installation disk:
   
   Windows 10 herunterladen
2. Run setup.exe on this disk.

It would wipe everything, including your data and all applications.

 

Google Chrome keeps resetting bookmarks position

Can you list what tasks/steps you've done thus far in your attempt to resolve it?

Have you logged off your profile (if using Sync) and done a complete wipe of the browser?

How about uninstall and then wipe any remaining data?

Do you have another device you can sort on that it works fine or you could test with?
