Windows 10: How do I log in when password or pin does not work?

My daughter attempted to restart the PC. When trying to log in the pin would not work. Reset it still didn’t work. Tried logging into my Microsoft account and it said the password was incorrect. I reset it and then still said password was incorrect. Trying to log in to computer please help.

To better assist you, please answer the following questions:

• Are you able to start up your device up to the desktop screen?
• After doing the password reset, what error message are you getting?
• Are you able to log in to your account using a password instead of a pin?

In the meantime, if you are able to start up your device up to the desktop screen you may follow the steps to Remove Pin:

Go to Settings.

Under Accounts, click on Sign in options and select
Remove PIN.

After removing your PIN (this will require your password to do this), then you may click
Add PIN. Follow the steps to add a PIN.

NOTE: You may use the same PIN you have been using.

After doing so, log out of your account and sign back in using your PIN.

I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Click on Sign-in options on the log on screen. Select Microsoft account.
• Try logging in using Microsoft account and password.
• Once you log into the system, try to change the PIN under accounts/sign-in page.
• Select the Start
  
  button, then select
  Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
• Try to reset the PIN.

Forgotten PIN and expired password

Thanks for your answer.

I tried steps of both links:

• #1: reset PIN code
  
  • I see no link "reset your PIN"on login page --> I can't reset it
    
• #2: change or reset windows password
  
  • My Windows account is not displayed at all on login page.
    
  • I am using a local account
    

If you have any other suggestion, I would be more than happy to try.
