  1. New update iPad, no email, trust certificate

Subject: Software Update Disconnected My Outlook Email on iPadDear Microsoft Support,After installing a recent software update on my iPad, I can no longer access my Outlook email. The app displays a message stating the certificate is “Not Trusted” and shows an expiry date of March 28, 2026.This issue does not affect my iPhone, only the iPad. Please investigate and advise how I can reconnect my email account securely.Sincerely,Gerry G

  2. N8 certificates not trusted/don't match the name

Well I worked out for myself how to verify the certificates are genuine:

    • Using a desktop computer
    • Go to the page with the certificates
    • Select a certificate
    • It will say either:
      • Certificate already exists - this confirms that the certificate on the website matches one already in your browser, which we already trust, therefore the certificate on the website is trustworthy
      • Asks if you want to install the certificate, DON'T.
        • First view the certificate details.
        • Copy the certificate serial number or SHA1/SHA256/MD5/etc hash
        • Paste this into a search engine
        • If another website that you trust lists the certificate, e.g. your phone manufacturer or another trusted website (preferably a secure website, therefore you have confidence the website is genuine), then you can trust the certificate
        • If no trustworthy sites are returned in the search then try another hash or serial number
        • If you can't find any trustworthy sites listing the certificate then I suggest you don't trust it.
    • Finally, if you decide you trust a certificate then you can download and install on your phone.

  3. 'Update Trusted Microsoft Certificates' -- How To Do It?

    Hi Paul,

I suggest you to follow the below and check if it helps.

    For Microsoft Edge:

    • Navigate to a web page that uses your certificate.
    • Click the Lock icon (in the web address field); the company under “Website Identification” is the company that owns the root.

    For Internet Explorer:

    • Navigate to a web page that uses your certificate.
    • Click the Lock icon (in the web address field).
    • Click View Certificates then Certification Path.
    • View the certificate name at the top of the Certificate Path.

Hope it helps. Update us the status of updating the Trusted Microsoft Certificates for further assistance.

    Thank you.

Unable to install Trusted Certificate for WORD

    Hello! Bryan Koyano

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community

The error message you’re encountering while trying to install a trusted certificate for Microsoft Word indicates that the certificate used to sign the deployment manifest for the add-in is not trusted. Allow me to ask:

    • Is this happening to other Office programs?
    • What version and edition of Office do you have installed in your device? Example: Personal/Family/Enterprise?
      • You can open any Office apps
      • Go to File > Accounts - on the right side you can see Product Information
    • Is this happening to other devices? or just this device?
    • Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Office on your device?

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

    1. Check Certificate Trust:
      • Ensure that the certificate you’re using is valid and trusted. If it’s self-signed, make sure it’s added to the trusted root certificate authorities on your system.
      • Verify that the certificate’s location (file path) is accessible and not blocked by any security policies.
    2. Office Add-In Trust Settings:
      • Open Word and go to File > Options.
      • Select the Trust Center tab.
      • Click on Trust Center Settings.
      • Navigate to the Trusted Locations tab.
      • Add the folder containing your add-in files (including the certificate) as a trusted location.
    3. Uninstall/Reinstall office.
      • Go to Start menu > Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
      • Locate your Microsoft Office and click Modify
      • Click Uninstall and follow the instructions for uninstalling Office.
      • Restart your device.
    4. To reinstall Office in your device:
      1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/ sign in with your account.
      2. Click the Install button - this should download your Officesetup.exe to your device.
      3. Run the Officesetup.exe
      4. Follow the steps for installing Office in your device.
Remember to consult your system administrator if you need further assistance. Hopefully, these steps will help you resolve the certificate trust issue and successfully install your Word add-in!

    I hope this helps!

    Thank you,
