  1. Is it normal for a system restore to take over 6 hours?

Hello, I am attempting a system restore that’s been running on “finalizing file restore” for about 5 hours. My 1 tb hard drive has around 600 gigabytes of filled storage, is this a normal amount of time for a restore to take? Or should I attempt to stop the restore and do a clean install of windows?

    :)

    Hi Terrie,

To address your concern, we suggest that you try to undo the restore or pick another restore point.

Please follow these steps to access system restore:

    • Right-click (or press and hold) the Start button, and then select Control Panel.

Windows system restore - taking 2 hours plus ?

Tried a system restore on 2 occasions today.

First session ran for over 2hrs with the screen saying "Please wait while etc etc".

Read that if runs more than an hour it may be frozen and suggests a hard reset of the device.

The second session is doing the same restoring for 2 hours plus.

Is this expected or an error/fault somewhere on the system causing it run more than an hour etc.
