Windows 10: How do I transfer my favorited photos on my phone to my computer?

I need to transfer my favorited photos out of my phone and into a saved file in my computer. I am running out of iCloud space and want to delete the favorited photos from my phone. I can use a cable but please try to avoid solution that require signing into an iCloud account.

Transfer "favorites" to new computer

You should have nothing to worry about - your Favorites will transfer automatically, if you normally sign in with a Microsoft account and you sync your Favorites. Syncing is perhaps the biggest advantage of a Microsoft account.

P.S. If you use Microsoft Edge on your phone, your Favorites will sync there, also. Nothing you need to do.

 

Favorite photos do not appear in Favorite Album

Thank you for your suggestions. I updated the app but many of the photos marked favorites still do not show up in the favorites album. I've also taken the steps suggested in the referenced thread without any success. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
