Windows 10: Unable to access computer due to PIN issues

Came back from vacation, and saw this message on my one month old Dell Inspiron with Windows 11 Professional: 'Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN again'. There is button on the bottom which says 'set up my PIN'. When I click this, I get another message which says 'We'll send a code to @hotmail.com'. Clicked on the 'send code' link multiple times with no code ever received. Tried restarting computer multiple times and tried a system restore which also gave me an error message. Help!

Unable to Access Windows - PIN and Fingerprint Issues

Hello,

I am experiencing issues accessing my Windows account due to problems with the PIN and fingerprint login. Here are the steps I followed and the issues encountered:

1. I entered an incorrect PIN several times.
   
2. I decided to change the PIN. I successfully logged into my account. and attempted to change the PIN, but an error occurred during the process.
   
3. Now, I am unable to log in using the PIN, and it is blocked for 2 hours.
   
4. I am offered the option to use fingerprint authentication, but it does not work.
   
5. I am not given the option to log in using my password or account credentials, even though I logged in with them when attempting to change the PIN.
   

How can I regain access to Windows?

• Did you encounter any error messages?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done to troubleshoot the problem?
• Which Windows 10 version/build is currently installed on your computer? To check, type
  winver in the search option.

This issue might be due to some error in system settings.

If you have not yet tried the below steps, I suggest you to perform and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to log out from the current user account, restart the computer and log-in with the administrator account and check if you are able to access the local drivers.

If the issue still persists,

Step 2: I suggest you to place the computer in safe mode, try to log-in with administrator account and check if the issue persists.
