    Issues with touchscreen after downloading NAPLAN locked down browser

    I've just downloaded the Australian NAPLAN browser in preparation for the NAPLAN tests happening this year, but after trying to run and set up the software, I've noticed that I'm not able to use my touchscreen. While the browser was opening, it had network issues and wasn't able to connect to the server, and eventually froze, so I had to fully turn my laptop off.

    My touchscreen only works with my laptop pen, and I am only able to use multi-touch on my trackpad to a certain degree as the four-finger shortcut doesn't work.

    I've tried checking my drivers through windows tools, and there doesn't seem to be any issues. I can also use task manager and other applications just fine without being logged out of any of my accounts.

    I haven't checked with my school's IT Department yet, but I will when I get back to school to see if they can understand whats happening.

    Hi, my name is Kelly, and I'm an independent consultant and I'm here to help.

    It sounds like the Naplan practice test may have caused some issues with your system settings. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the touchscreen and security options issue:

    Check Device Manager: Go to Device Manager and check if there are any exclamation marks or warning signs next to the touchscreen or trackpad drivers. If there are, try updating or reinstalling the drivers.

    System Restore: If the issue started after the Naplan practice test, you may try restoring your system to a point before the test was taken. This can be done by going to the Control Panel, then System and Security, then System, and clicking on System Protection. From there, select System Restore and choose a restore point prior to taking the test.

    Group Policy Editor: It is possible that the settings in Group Policy Editor may have been modified during the Naplan test. To access Group Policy Editor, press Win+R, type "gpedit.msc" and press Enter. From there, navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Ctrl+Alt+Del Options and check if "Remove Task Manager" and "Remove Lock Computer" policies are enabled. If they are, disable them.

    Windows Settings: Go to Windows Settings, then Accounts, then Sign-in options and check if "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart" is turned on. If it is, try turning it off and restarting your computer.

    Reset Windows: If none of the above steps work, you may need to reset your Windows installation to its default settings. This can be done by going to Windows Settings, then System, then Recovery and selecting "Reset this PC". Keep in mind that this will remove all installed apps and files, so make sure to back up important data before doing this.

    Hopefully, one of these steps will help you resolve the issues you are experiencing.

    Testing NAPLAN Lockdown Browser did something to my laptop..

    So, I use a school laptop for my work and yesterday we had a staff member come in and test the NAPLAN Locked down Browsers for an upcoming NAPLAN. After he finished testing my laptop, The taskbar and apps were minimized by a LOT.

    I have tried fixing it myself, but its not returning to normal.

    If this helps, I have an ASUS ExpertBook, running Windows 11 Education.
