Windows 10: My Sticky Notes have disappeared after reopening

I searched for Sticky Notes using the Windows search bar. When I opened the last sticky note I used, it appeared briefly but then closed automatically.I tried reopening Sticky Notes, but the same issue kept happening. Eventually, the notes list opened but only 2 notes were visible. All my other notes are missing.I checked the file at plum.sqlite and opened it in DB Browser for SQLite, but the Note and UpgradedNote tables are empty.These lost notes are very important to me.Please let me know if there’s a way to recover the missing notes.

Sticky notes disappeared

Hello Helen,

During the update it's normal for the system to close running applications to avoid complications.

I normally just search for Sticky Notes after a recent installation of the update. Once the program launches , it would then reopen with all the notes I've created before.

If the above scenario is not the case—usually, when you lose Sticky Notes on your desktop, you’ll be able to find all notes from the Sticky Notes folder via StickyNotes.snt files.

Now, to recover your missing notes, you may follow the method suggested by Microsoft Barbie in this old

thread.

Although the thread is for Windows 7, same steps apply to Windows 10.

Sticky Note Missing

Let's see if with the following steps we can solve the problem:

1.- Open >> Sticky notes, when located on the taskbar (Right click on the option) >> Select: List of Notes, now check if your note is in that list.

I can understand the frustration - let's see if we can fix this for you!

Let's try a couple of steps:

Step 1: Recover Missing Sticky Notes from the File Location

When you accidentally delete a sticky note, the app data is still there. We can restore deleted sticky notes from a StickyNotes.snt file.

Open File Explorer on Windows, navigate to C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Sticky Notes.

Find and right click on StickyNotes.snt file.

Select Restore Previous Versions.

Step 2: Recover Closed Sticky Notes from All Notes.

Open Sticky Notes app.

Right click on Sticky Notes app on Task bar, then choose All notes.

A full list of notes will appear, including the one that you closed.

Double click the note that you want to recover, then it will display as a standalone note like all regular ones.
