Windows 10: Photos app filename info textbox refreshing while entering new filename. Ctrl C also not...

I have a workflow functioning since 2023 that involves renaming photos in the info sidebar of the photos app. Within the past month or two a bug has begun happening where I will begin entering a new filename in the text box and while in the middle of typing the filename will revert to the last saved name and reset my cursor to the beginning of the filename. This results in the loss of the data I had been tying and the rremainder of the filename text appearing in the wrong place. I have eliminated user error by disabling mouse, touchpad and touchscreen and navigating workflow through keys

MS Photos legacy starts slideshow unexpectedly on specific filename patterns on Windows desktop

I'm writing to report an issue with [Microsoft Photos legacy] on Windows10 where it automatically starts a slideshow when I click on a photo, despite having slideshow mode disabled.

I've tried various troubleshooting steps like changing settings, resetting the app, and even reinstalling it, but the issue persists. However, I've discovered a seemingly unique behavior:

• I have several photos on my desktop with specific filenames (e.g., Untitled-1.png, Untitled-2.png, 1693302989555.jpg).
  
• When I click on "Untitled-2.png," the app initially displays it correctly. But after 5 seconds, it switches to "1693302989555.jpg" and stops.
  
• Clicking "Untitled-1.png" follows the same pattern: After 5 seconds, it shows "1693302989555.jpg" and stops.

My Observation:

It seems the app triggers a slideshow whenever filenames follow a numerical or alphabetical sequence (e.g., 1, 2, 3 or a, b, c). This only happens on my desktop; other folders function normally.

To confirm:

• I copied all desktop photos to a new folder, and the slideshow issue ceased.
  
• I added another photo with a random filename ("427a915a.png") and moved "1693302989555.jpg" away. Clicking "Untitled-2.png" displayed "427a915a.png" after 5 seconds, replicating the issue.
  

Possible Solution:

This suggests the app might have a bug related to interpreting specific filename patterns as a slideshow sequence.

Thank you Mr_Meow and Rodrigo.Queiroz, but playing a bit with the directory list I was given, I realize there is one step I cannot resolve.

I can find from the lists I was given, the names that have illegal characters but it is a bit complicated to do:

"filename","full path/filename","owner","creation date","loast modified date"

As soon as I try a Text-to-column action in Excel, the lines having illegal character may mess up the column twice and working from there to find illegal filenames is more complicated. I could simply load up the CSV and not do a text-to-column and then find the illegal filenames, it would be easier. But the problem is the next step.

Even if I isolate the illegal filenames, the only known way to fix this is to give the owners those filenames and ask them to rename them. This will take a few months to do because it will be their lowest priority and they are pretty busy right now.

Isn't there a tool existing that can scan a server or directory to find all invalid filenames and somehow offer a solution to rename them (depending on the case)?

If not, I don't see how this will be fixed with in a few days (no deadline, its just that this has been going on for so long) ...
