Windows 10: Win11 private network won't connect printers

I have 2 computers running Win11 on a private network. I have set it up with File and Printer sharing.On each computer I can see the other printer on the network, and open the files showing next to it, but the printer will not connect. Both printers are on the same workgroup ie MSHome. The printers are Epson inkjets- XP-4205 and XP-225. They both work when printing from the computers they are connected to by usb.I have tried shutting down the firewalls but this does not work.Has anyone suffered the same problem?

Win 10 Network Printer Connection Problem

I have tried, when using the wifi from a Win 7 computer to connect to the printer connected to it. Others can connect.

I did do the three steps outlined:

• Open File Explorer. Pick the "Network" icon from the left pane (navigation pane) of the file explorer UI.
• If sharing is turned off you will see a pale yellow line towards the top of the window that states "Network Discovery is turned off. Network computers and devices are not visible. Click to change...".
• Click this bar and select "Turn on network discovery and file sharing"

None of the suggestion worked.

I did notice that the PC I'm connecting to is 'Private' while I am listed as 'Public'.

• Can this be causing the problem?
• Are there other suggestions?

I need to be connected to use the other printer so work flow can not be disrupted and someone else needs to print the file for me.

Connecting computer with no internet connection to network printer

1. Open Admin command and type: ipconfig
   
   
   
2. Win+X->Control Panel->Netwok and Sharing Center
   Follow the screen shot. This should disable internet access from this PC but allows access to local device(s)
   NOTE: Use the IP & Subnet Mask from step 1. Leave Default gateway & DNS Server blank
   
   
   

 

Shared printer shows on network but will not connect - Windows 11

My Win 11 machine was connecting OK to a printer on another machine on the network. After update KB5020622 (22H) the printer no longer shows on the list of printers and will not reinstall.

This is what I've done...

• Added the latest Win11 driver from the manufacturer's site
  
• Gone to Devices
  
• "Add Manually"
  
• "Browse"
  
• The host PC was shown and clicking on the icon showed the printer
  
• Selected the printer
  
• Saw a green bar and an alert saying "Windows cannot connect to printer. No printer found"
  

At the same time I connected to the printer using another machine on the network, so the problem must lie with the Win11 machine.
