This is a chain reaction between a long-unresolved bug and a new bug.First, I need to raise another issue:Many users have noticed that since a certain version, Windows recognizes the order of video signals opposite to the BIOS. Unable to switch HDR colour on .. tower PC .. windows 10 pro regularly updated.. version 20H2 os build..19042.1288 monitor LG 55in tv resolution 4096x2160 (hdr compatible) On diplay settings page.. use HDR toggle switch is set to off.. (not greyed out).. When I click to on.. the screen goes black for 1 second then as the picture reappears.. I see the toggle switch back to off.. I have checked the DXDIAG log and HDR is ok.. (log attached) and in the registry (video settings) value 1 Any suggestions anyone? Thanks Konnie ..

 

Screen flickering when switching windows when HDR is enabled

Hi, I have a very annoying issue with HDR on Windows 11.

I have 3 screens, and my main middle screen supports HDR, while the other 2 secondary ones do not.

If I switch to a window on one of my secondary screens, then switch over to a window on my main HDR screen, there is a very high chance that it will cause the screen to go blank for a few seconds, then come back again. Sometimes, the screen will flicker up to 5 times before coming back (which is like 20 seconds of the screen being blank). There is also a chance of the flickers causing my screen to glitch out and consider the video input as SDR content even though my GPU is outputting HDR content, causing the colours to be extremely washed out unless I switch out and back in the DisplayPort input.

This is extremely annoying, as the only fix I've found up until now is to disable HDR completely, which kind of defeats the purpose of my HDR monitor. I've tried fiddling with my NVidia driver settings, and on Windows display settings, but nothing seems to have made a difference.

My GPU is an RTX 2080 Super, and the screen I use is a Samsung Odyssey G7 updated to the latest firmware.

Doing a quick search on the internet showed nothing, I feel like I'm the only one with this issue.

Has anyone got this problem before?

• When you turned on your computer, does it give you an extended display for both monitor screen and your laptop?
• Is your monitor screen already connected to your laptop before turning it on?
• What cable are you using to connect your second monitor to your laptop?
  
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried?
