Windows 10: Security concern

Whilst working on my computer a large number of pages popped up and a voice message warning me that there was an issue and to contact Microsoft on a phone number identified below. This number was 08085310695. It also told me not to shut computer down. I used a different device to try to identify the number with no success and I also tried to contact Microsoft on a different device, both by web page and telephone number with no success as login in was an issue and the phone options were inappropriate. I phoned the number given and spoke to a gentleman who said he was with Microsoft assist

That made me so facepalm. Some people have absolutely no clue. I hope they don't take you for granted with all this you're doing for them.

SonicWall is a good security product, so Mindweaver's suggestion sounds like a good one and should make for a rather bigger baby step. Let's hope they take it.

Not that there aren't better answers to security concerns. Which I'm sure there always are. But to protect my own mental health, I always feel better if I...




In other words...bad things are always happening to me and I can never feel 100% safe and secure no matter what I do...unless I just pretend they aren't. And do my best to not say the wrong things to the wrong people. Que sera sera. And all that jazz.

Is a Windows PC listed under Ways to prove who you are after signing in at https://account.microsoft.com/security then clicking Advanced security options? While you're there, check that page shows "Two-step verification ON".
