  1. Nonexistent Mail App taking up space?

According to my storage settings, mail is taking up 28 GBs of space - but I don't have any mail apps downloaded! In fact, when I click on Mail to manage storage, the only option that comes up is to look for an app in the app store. So how does an app that I don't have take up 28 gigs? It's taking up way too much storage. I do have 365 but I do not have outlook or anything else like that downloaded. If I need to use outlook I go to the web.

    :)

If it was active before and contains your OST files and PST, I doubt that uninstalling Outlook would help with the storage issue. Although there is a way to only remove Outlook from the Office installation.

    Here are the steps:

    - Press the Windows key + R then enter appwiz.cpl

    - Select Microsoft Office then click the Change button on the menu

    - Tick the Add or Remove Features option and then click on the Continue button

    - From the drop-down list of programs, locate the Microsoft Outlook option, and then click the disk icon next to it.

    - Set it to Not Available and then Continue

    - That's it. Other apps should remain except for the ones that are set to Not Available.

If you decided to remove Outlook, it is best to look for the location of the files from the Outlook app but it should probably be here by default. I would suggest transferring them to an external disk if you have one in case you need them in the future.

    C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. Nonexistent Mail App taking up space? :)

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
