  1. Unable to connect to onsite VPN. certificate errors, tunnel errors. NPS policies possible...

I have started using laptops for users that need to be more mobile. We have never needed to use a VPN before, but now I want to be prepared. I followed Microsoft's guide for setting up a VPN on Server 2022. I double-checked the steps on multiple YouTube turorials. There are currently two policies on the NPS that are active:Connections to Microsoft Routing and Remote Access server - enabled - 999998 - Deny AccessConnections to other access servers - enabled - 999999 - Deny AccessThese policies were set up long before I arrived; so I'm hesitant to chang

  2. Unable to establish a VPN connection on Windows 11 ARM Laptop

    Hi Rosy,

I'm sorry for the very slow response and thank you so much for your help.

I tried setting up an IKEv2 IPSec VPN as you recommended and got the error "The remote connection was not made because the attempted VPN tunnels failed. The VPN server might be unreachable. If this connection is attempting to use L2TP/IPsec tunnel, the security parameters required for IPsec negotiation might not be configured correctly".

I then tried to set up OPenVPN as you recommended. I downloaded the openvpn-latest-stable-amd64.msi file from(
How to set up a manual connection on Windows using OpenVPN) and tried to install it but got the error "OpenVPNMSICA: tap_create_adapter: DinstallDevice failed Error -536870397:"

From the Command Prompt run as an administrator I have run the following commands.....

    1. netsh winsock reset - and then rebooted the laptop
    2. netsh int ip reset - and then rebooted the laptop
    3. ipconfig /release
    4. ipconfig /renew
    5. ipconfig /flushdns
I've tried to connect the IKEv2 IPSec VPN and got the same error as above. However when i tried to connect the PPTP VPN I got the error "Policy Match Error" rather than the previous error "
he network connection between your computer and the VPN server was interrupted. This can be caused by a problem in the VPN transmission and is commonly the result of internal latency or simply that your VPN has reached its capacity. Please try to reconnect to the VPN server. If this problem persists, contact the VPN administrator and analyse the quality of the network connectivity.”

I'm guessing this is because of the changes made to set up the IKEv2 IPSec VPN.

I've disabled the Microsoft Defender firewall and the connection to IKEv2 IPSec VPN produced the same error.

I've disabled the Advanced System Care AntiVirus software and the connection to IKEv2 IPSec VPN produced the same error.

When I opened the Network Adapters within Device Manager there was no VPN adapter to uninstall.

I've had a look at the Application and System areas within Event Manager but I can see no records relating to VPN, but then again I don't really know how to filter the log.

I've contacted NORD VPN and they suggested that I set up the IKEv2 IPSec VPN and OpenVPN - which don't work.

Do you have any other suggestions?

    Kindest regards, Dave

  3. How to make OneDrive bypass VPN Connectivity - Split Tunneling

By default my VPN controls my PC's program internet activity when enabled (as it's supposed to). If I choose to do so, I can specify which program I want to ignore the VPN in the VPN's "Split Tunnel" settings, and therefore run that program without a VPN (example: if my VPN suddenly hiccups, I won't need to worry about that program's internet access getting interrupted). However, I was noticing that I seem unable to add OneDrive specifically to the ignore list in my VPN's "Split Tunnel" settings and see a change. Running on a Windows 10 PC, under Program Files, the .exe files I've tried are:

    OneDrive.exe
    OneDriveStandaloneUpdater.exe
    OneDriveUpdaterService.exe
    OneDriveSetup.exe
    OneDriveFileLauncher.exe
    Microsoft.SharePoint.NativeMessagingClient.exe
    Microsoft.SharePoint.exe
    FileSyncHelper.exe
    FileSyncConfig.exe
    FileCoAuth.exe

However, the connection is still entirely controlled by my VPN (I can only log into OneDrive when I turn on the VPN or close out of the VPN completely). I do have the option to add IP Addresses to the Split Tunnel list; I'm just hoping there's a specific .exe that OneDrive uses to connect online.

    tl;dr
Does anyone have any ideas on how to make sure OneDrive ignores my VPN lol?

Unable to connect to onsite VPN. certificate errors, tunnel errors. NPS policies possible...

Is there a more effificent way to connect to VPN tunnels?

Previously, after creating the PPTP VPN tunnel, you could connect to the tunnel by clicking on the network connection icon, selecting the tunnel, and then connect. Now, I have to click on the network connection icon, click on the tunnel to take me to
the VPN window, select the same tunnel again, and then select connect. There has to be a more efficient way?
