Windows 10: Brightness Stuck at Max or Min?

I just picked up a new, open box laptop from best buy a couple of days ago, and I am having a weird issue with the brightness. For reference, I am using Windows 11 and have a QualcommR AdrenoTM X1-45 GPU. Seemingly randomly, the brightness of the screen will be raised to the maximum or minimum value, as if the corresponding change brightness function key was being pressed. I am unsure whether this is a software or a hardware issue, because it responds the exact same way I would expect it to respond if one of the function keys was being held down, however, no matter how I mess with the key,

The troubleshooting steps above fixed my problem, which was that the screen was too dim while brightness level was stuck at max level. Proper brightness is now restored and responds to my up or down commands...

 

Max Brightness on Videos

Hello,

I a currently experiencing an unusual problem where any downloaded video I have, plays the video on max brightness. videos on youtube are fine, all the colors on the apps I am running are fine, But if I play a video that I have saved on my Computer then
the video itself will do this max brightness while taskbar and other apps are the correct brightness.

 

Display brightness at max after 1803 update

Hello!

I upgraded my laptop over the weekend to Windows 10 1803. I noticed my display was set to max brightness. I am unable to use the F keys to lower the brightness. I am also unable to change the brightness in the display settings. My drivers are all updated.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I have a Toshiba Satellite with the Intel (R) HD Graphics.
