Windows 10: Duplicate Display Reverts after 1 Second, Extend Desktop Works

I recently noticed that I am unable to Duplicate Display in Windows involving 1 monitor. Extend works correctly.Setup -DisplayPort 1 - Primary Monitor 1440p, max 165 hzDisplayPort 2 - Secondary Monitor 1440p, max 60 hzHDMI 3 - TV 4k, max 120 hzAll plugged into an AMD video card running a 25.6.1 version of the driver.I can Mirror 2 and 3 successfully to each other.Extend works across all 3 screensI have attempted to set all 3 screens to 1080 and 60 hz and try. DisplayPort 1 is unable to mirror.I have tried deleting the Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrive

Possible to duplicate extended desktop?

Hi, i have a laptop connected to 2 monitors, total 3 displays. Laptop is display 1, followed by monitor 1 is display 2, monitor is display 3.

Is it possible to extend my laptop to display 2 and also to have duplicate of this extended desktop shown on display 3?

i.e. display 1 is main laptop desktop. Display 2 and 3 are both showing the same duplicate extended desktop.

To answer your first 3 questions:

• When does the issue start? It has always been this way, as I just started using the laptop with a second monitor recently.
• Is your laptop runs the latest Windows update? Yes
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far? I tried checking the graphics driver and generally playing around with the display settings.

I tried your suggested steps of using "Extend these displays" first, then check the second monitor as the main display (nice). Then I selected "Show only on 2", which disabled the "Make this main display" for 2, but stayed checked at least. (see image #1)

The bad news is that after sleep or restart, it reverts back to "Extend" mode (see image #2).

It's still an improvement from before (which was reverting to Duplicate) because at least now the main monitor isn't shrinking down to a tiny screen size to match the laptop. However, I still want to stay at "Show only on 2". Any other ideas?

 

Cannot extend display to second monitor

I am using windows 10 pro on my Powerspec desktop PC. I have one HP monitor and one AOC monitor. I had three monitors (one HP and 2 AOC monitors) working fine using extended display. After removing one monitor (now have 2), the extended display does not work any more. I can use "Duplicate these displays", "Show only on 1" or "Show only on 2", all work fine, except "Extend these displays". When I select Extended, the second screen shows up with task bar, but I cannot move any window onto the second screen. The mouse does not move over either. I tried update the display driver, rebooting computer, reconnect the cable, nothing works! What's wrong?
