Windows 10: Screen does not turn on after startup despite faced camera lights and boot sound.

When powering on or opening my laptop, the Face ID camera lights will flash and I will get the windows start up sound, however the screen does nothing 90% of the time. After many restarts eventually it works, however it always works when launched in safe mode… Any ideas?

Check for Windows Updates

Ensure your Windows 11 is up to date, as Microsoft regularly releases updates that can fix known issues:

• Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
  

Update Camera Firmware

Check if there's a firmware update available for your USB camera. Visit the manufacturer's website for the most recent firmware and follow their instructions to update.

Windows Hello Reset

Try resetting Windows Hello by removing all facial recognition and PIN data:

• Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
  
• Under Facial recognition (Windows Hello), click Remove.
  
• Under PIN (Windows Hello), click Remove and then add it again.
  
• After resetting, try setting up facial recognition again.
  

Check Camera Privacy Settings

Ensure that Windows is allowed to access the camera, and that the camera is allowed to be used with Windows Hello:

• Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Camera.
  
• Make sure camera access is turned on for the device and allow apps to access your camera is enabled.
  
• Scroll down to ensure that Allow desktop apps to access your camera is turned on.
  

Adjust Lighting and Positioning

Sometimes, the issue could be related to poor lighting or the camera angle:

• Try setting up Windows Hello in a well-lit area without direct sunlight on your face or the camera.
  
• Adjust the camera angle to ensure you’re directly in front of the camera with your face clearly visible.
  

Check for Interference

Ensure there's nothing obstructing the camera's view and clean the camera lens. Sometimes, simple obstructions or dirt on the lens can affect facial recognition.

Troubleshoot in Clean Boot State

Perform a clean boot to see if third-party software is interfering with Windows Hello:

• Type msconfig in the Start search box and select System Configuration.
  
• In the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services and click Disable all.
  
• In the Startup tab, click Open Task Manager and disable all startup items.
  
• Restart your computer and try setting up Windows Hello again.
  

Contact Camera Manufacturer Support

If the problem persists, the issue might be specific to the camera. Contact the manufacturer's support for further assistance or to check if there are known compatibility issues with Windows 11.

Given the steps you've already tried, the issue might be more complex and require a specific fix either from a Windows update or from the camera manufacturer.

Since the previous troubleshooting steps didn't resolve the issue, we suggest performing a
System Restore to get your computer back to its previous state.

Note: System Restore will remove apps, drivers, and updates installed but won't affect your personal files.

Let us know how that turned out for you.

Hi. Unfortunatelly System Restore only had one restore date and it did not solve the problem. Any suggestion?
